"Cal," Tony asks as they pull into his driveway, "anybody ever told you you drive like a maniac?"

Suddenly, Cal has had just enough enough of this topic of conversation. He loops back to a little earlier.

"As long as nothing happens that makes me drive off the road," he says.

"Course not. Safety first. Then again," he teases, "with the way you drive..."

"There is nothing wrong with the way I drive," Cal protests, with a wry smile.

"Uh-huh."

This time, Cal does not make a face. Instead, he says,

"What?"

"Haven't we been over this?"

Cal can't remember. He hasn't spent much time in this conversation paying attention to the details of it. His awareness has mostly been focused on Stane's presence.

"- well, I still don't believe you."

He snorts.

"Oh, Tony doesn't like anyone's driving," Obadiah comments. "Except his own."

Again, Cal avoids looking at Stane, this time to prevent another overly telling look on his part.

"He is a good driver," he says blandly.

"No point in not being the best," he says, which might as well be some kind of family motto.

Cal smiles.

"I didn't say that."

"No, but it's true."

Normally, Cal would mention the memorable non-trip to Uno, but this isn't a normal day.

"Then maybe you can pick me up tomorrow."

"Glad to. Unless Obie wants to make me breakfast," he says, laughing.

Obadiah smiles and shakes his head. "No, thank you. You're on your own."

"Good," Cal says cheerfully.

To both of them.

"Sounds like a plan."

"Cool. What time should I come by?"

Cal answers with a time that's about an hour before homeroom starts.

"Marcy's was more crowded than I thought it would be."

"Yeah, all right." He grins. "Hope nobody mistakes me for Sherry. How many times has he broken into your place, again?"

"Three."

Cal pauses, then is forced to add,

". . . that I know of."

Tony cracks up.

"I don't know why you encourage his criminal tendencies, Tony."

"Our head of security was using his break-ins as a test," Cal explains.

He skips the part where Sherlock did not actually consult with Peter at any point beforehand.

"It was helpful."

So there.

"See? He has useful criminal tendencies," Tony says proudly.
